After the first performance of Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time in a German prisoner of war camp in 1941, the composer said, ‘Never before have I been listened to with such attention and understanding’. Renowned pianist Mitsuko Uchida performs alongside four acclaimed young artists, all of whom have received a Borletti-Buitoni Trust award in recent years.
